[BoF]

Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions are informal gatherings of attendees interested in a particular topic. BoFs enable attendees to discuss topics of mutual interest and to build professional relationships with other people who share similar interests. The highly interactive sessions will be held Wednesday (May 24) from 11:45 a.m. till 06:15 p.m. and Thursday (May 25) from 11:00 a.m. till 04:15 p.m. If you want to schedule a BoF, please contact the BoF coordinator by email at the address <sane2000-bof@nluug.nl>
SANE 2000 will, prior to the conference, not accept and/or pre-schedule BoF's that compete with activities in the regular conference program.

Work in Progress Reports (WiP) sessions are short pithy and fun. Work in Progress reports introduce interesting new or on-going work. If you have work you would like to share or a great idea that's not quite ready for publication, send a one- or two-paragrah summary to <sane2000-wip@nluug.nl>. A schedule of presentations will be posted at the conference and the speakers will be notified in advance. Work in Progress reports are ten-minute presentations; the time limit will be strictly enforced. The WiP sessions will be held Wednesday (May 24) from 11:45 a.m. till 06:15 p.m. and Thursday (May 25) from 11:00 a.m. till 04:15 p.m.

Topic: Linux-HA (High Availability)
Chair: Jos Visser
Time: --
Description:
One of the most commonly cited remarks concerning the applicability of Linux for enterprise class computing is the absence of a trustworthy, proven, solution for creating High Availability clusters with Linux. The excellent stability and robustness of Linux notwithstanding, I notice a huge demand in the Unix market for these types of clusters. There are currently a number of different projects being worked on which could, in time, turn into such a solution. This Birds of a Feather session's purpose is to bring together a number of people that are interested in, or involved with, High Availability, and who might have an idea on how this can, should or might be achieved under Linux.

About the chair: Jos Visser is a Unix consultant with Open Solution Providers, a company that specialises in Unix and High Availability.
