When Eric S. Raymond wrote the article "The Cathedral & The Bazaar" in 1997 the view on software development changed dramatically. It sets the image of a large number of unorganized people gathering at a bazaar and creating powerful software. Without someone telling them what they must do. True freedom.
The Free Software Bazaar is a unique opportunity to meet software developers and get involved in the creative process of Free Software. Gather around a screen to check out the latest features. Meet people you only know by e-mail. Have a heated discussion about choices to be made. Be part of the future.
Richard M. Stallman will start the Bazaar with a presentation on Free Software. Richard is a long-time prophet of the Free Software Movement, founder of the Free Software Foundation and the GNU project. He is the most widely know figure in the world of Free Software.
The Bazaar is part of SANE 2004, forming the bridge between the tutorials and the conference. It can be visited for free, also when you do not attend SANE otherwise. Registration is not required.

We have decided to make the Bazaar free to attend, to encourage many people to join. It does cost money though. Therefore we are looking for sponsors. See the sponsoring page for more information.
The Bazaar takes place from 6.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m., Wednesday evening September 29, 2004. Location is the Forum Lounge in the RAI Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
